Archibald At The Charles Bridge – Buildings History

History of the building goes back to 15th century, when all houses were named, usually after occupant´s proffesion. Our used to be know as „ U tri lzic zednickych“ - „At Three Shovels“. The house, among first to brew a beer was popular place to have a break for tired travellers, not just to soothe their thirst but to have a rest in rooms provided, in such beautiful sorroundings.

Original documentation describes the house „ U tri lzic zednickych“ as one of exclusive properties, being valued at 800 threescores sou, according original receipt from 1527.

At present, after sensible recontruction finished in 1998, Archibald At The Charles Bridge Hotel is among world heritage of UNESCO.
